Moldovan citizens to be able to collect monetary compensations for heating as of 8 April

Monetary compensations for heating, provided for last March, will be available for collection starting from 8 April, this year. This information was provided to MOLDPRES by the National Social Insurance House (CNAS).

Contacted by MOLDPRES, Petru Socolan, head of the CNAS Information and Communication Directorate, said that the institution would start the transfer starting from 8 April via the governmental payment system MPay.

“The funds will be transferred to the beneficiaries’ social card, in the account where they receive their pension, allowance, benefit, or another social payment. Those who do not have a social card can collect the money from any post office of the country,” Petru Socolan noted.

Over 720 thousand families who benefited from heating and electricity compensations, after registering in the Help at the Meter programme, will receive  support for heating in monetary form for March, and for electricity – in their invoice.

Starting from February and till December 2025, all household consumers will receive electricity compensations, directly included in their invoices. The compensations will cover the difference between the regulated price and the reference price, up to a maximum cap of 1.84 lei/kWh, applicable to the amount of energy consumed monthly, not exceeding the limit of 110 kWh per one consumption point.

“One hundred and ten kWh would represent 80% of the average monthly electricity consumption for one family. Aid will be provided to all families, no matter whether they are registered in the compensation system or not. This measure will ensure an equitable distribution of aid with a significant impact on lower-income households. At the same time, citizens will be able to opt out of this support by addressing their supplier,” Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu said.

Energy providers will perform the monthly calculation of the amount compensated from the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund for each domestic consumer, and the issued invoices will state the overall cost of electricity provided, the value of the compensation granted and the final amount the consumer must pay after applying this compensation.

Provision of electricity compensations for all households of Moldova is part of the financial support package announced by the European Union for the 2025 year.
