Moldovan researchers to have free access to international data platform

Researchers from three higher education institutions in the Republic of Moldova will have free access to the international data platform Web of Science. This will provide beneficiaries with new tools and resources meant to facilitate their research activity and increase their visibility on an international level.

The Ministry of Education and Research has invested over 80,000 euros to purchase the platform.

The three institutions are the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, the Technical University of Moldova and Moldova State University.

The platform includes multidisciplinary bibliographic and bibliometric databases and provides access to indexed journals, theses and dissertations, references in various scientific disciplines, etc.

Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun said that the platform ensures the connection of researchers from the Republic of Moldova to global information resources.

“For us at the Ministry of Education and Research, it was surprising that this had not been done until now, because it is impossible to connect to an international research community if access to international databases and the latest scientific news from around the globe is not secured by the state. As you use these resources and we validate the results, we will extend access to other universities,” he said.

The official launch event was held at the Technical University of Moldova and was preceded by an information session attended by representatives of the institution's management and researchers.
