As of today, fishing ban period set up in Moldova

Starting from 1 April until June 2025, a fishing ban period is set up in the natural fishery aquatic objectives in the Republic of Moldova. The measure, valid for 75 days, aims to protect aquatic resources and maintain ecological balance.

According to the Environmental Protection Inspectorate, during the prohibition, fishing in natural fishery aquatic objectives is strictly prohibited; being near these waters with fishing gear; and the use of watercraft by individuals.

The control of compliance with the aforementioned order's provisions falls under the responsibility of the Environmental Protection Inspectorate, and violations of this order's provisions lead to accountability in accordance with current legislation.

Illegal fishing endangers the balance of the aquatic ecosystem, affecting natural resources and biodiversity. Offenders risk financial penalties, according to Article 114 (2) of the Contravention Code – Violation of the rules for the protection of fishery resources and fishing rules.
