Moldovan president has meeting with German Foreign Minister

President Maia Sandu met today Germany's Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Annalena Baerbock, on visit to Moldova. The discussions focused on topics concerning the European path of the country, deepening economic cooperation, continued bilateral support and regional security.

The head of state expressed gratitude for the consistent support provided by Germany at key moments for Moldova and emphasized the importance of continuing German assistance, including for civil society and the free media of the country.

Germany has stood by Moldova and Moldovans on crisis periods and has become the largest bilateral donor to the Vulnerability Reduction Fund, contributing 73 million euros to help citizens cope with high energy costs during two challenging winters. Since 2022, Germany has provided Moldova with an overall funding of about 230 million euros, supporting both crisis response measures and development and reform projects.

Germany also plays a significant economic role, being one of the country's most important trading partners and a major source of investment. Moldova stays interested in attracting new companies to help create secure and well-paid jobs for its citizens.
