Moldovan, U.S. officials discuss expanding Moldovan diplomatic presence in United States

On a working visit to the United States, Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi discussed expanding Moldovan diplomatic presence in the United States with U.S. Department of State officials.

It is about Acting Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs and Executive Secretary Lisa Kenna, Acting Coordinator on Assistance for Europe and Eurasia Chris Bergaus, Acting Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of Energy Resources Laura Lochman, head of the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Bureau Cart Weiland, Acting Head of the Cyberspace and Digital Policy Bureau Jennifer Bachus and Head of the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Riley Barnes.

"We discussed expanding the Moldovan diplomatic presence in the United States, current challenges of the Republic of Moldova in energy, cybersecurity and the rule of law, as well as strengthening the partnership with the U.S. in key areas," Popșoi said.

During the day, Popșoi is scheduled to meet with several U.S. senators.

Popșoi is paying a working visit to the U.S. on 29 March - 6 April. The Moldovan official participated in the official inauguration ceremony of the Consulate General of the Republic of Moldova in Sacramento. On the same day, in Chicago, the opening of the second Consulate General of the Republic of Moldova in the U.S. took place.
