Consulate General of Moldova in Chicago starts activity

After years of waiting, the flag of the Republic of Moldova was hoisted at the new Consulate in Chicago, USA. Attending the inauguration ceremony, Speaker Igor Grosu said "it is a step forward for the Moldovan community there, and I strongly believe that this consulate will become a second home for them."

"I was happy to see that thousands of kilometers away from home, Moldovans are proving they can succeed anywhere without forgetting their roots. At the event in Chicago, I felt at home, I felt proud of our people who are hardworking, respected, socially engaged and - most importantly - united. Thank you for the beautiful emotions we experienced together," Grosu said.

The Consulate General in Chicago will be headed by Anton Lungu and will provide various services, such as issuing and renewing Moldovan passports; notarial services and civil status documents; assistance for Moldovan citizens in emergency situations; promoting economic and cultural relations between Moldova and the USA.
