Russia says to respond accordingly following expulsion of its employees from Moldova
Russia says it will respond accordingly to the expulsion of three employees of the Russian Embassy, who have declared undesirable persons on the territory of Moldova.
Three employees of the Russian Embassy were declared undesirable persons on the territory of Moldova. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) today delivered a note to this effect to the head of the Russian diplomatic mission in Chisinau, Oleg Ozerov.
“The concerned diplomats are expected to leave the country. The decision of the Moldovan authorities is based on clear evidence regarding the conduct of activities contrary to diplomatic status on the territory of Moldova,” MAE informed.
The MAE summoned the head of the Russian diplomatic mission in Chisinau, Oleg Ozerov, today at 16:00, after the leadership of the Security and Intelligence Service (SIS) had informed that lawmaker Alexandr Nesterovschi was in the Transnistrian region, under the direct protection of the Russian special services.
At a news conference, SIS director Alexandru Musteata emphasized that he had confirmed information about the involvement of the authorities of Russia, including the special services and the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Moldova, in helping citizen Alexandr Nesterovschi evade the national law enforcement authorities.
SIS specifies that Alexandr Nesterovschi was part of the criminal network coordinated by Ilan Shor, who also evades serving a 15-year prison sentence.
“The respective diplomats are expected to leave the country. The decision of the Moldovan authorities is based on clear evidence regarding the conduct of activities contrary to diplomatic status on the territory of the Moldova,” MAE said.
