Speaker to attend inauguration of Consulate General of Moldova in Chicago

Speaker Igor Grosu will attend the inauguration of the Consulate General of the Republic of Moldova in Chicago on 29 March. The new consular representation will facilitate the access of the Moldovan community in the USA to public services and will reduce the distances they have to travel for consular assistance.

In the United States of America, he will have meetings with Moldovans settled in Ashville and Orlando. The official will visit businesses managed by Moldovans in the USA, in fields such as transportation, construction and logistics.

The visit's agenda also includes meetings with American senators and congressmen, as well as members of the Friendship Group with the Republic of Moldova in the US Congress.

"The priorities of the meetings with decision-makers in the House of Representatives and the US Congress are to inform them directly about the political and electoral processes in the Republic of Moldova, security in the country and region and the need for continuing joint projects and their financing," Grosu said.

This is the first visit of the year to the USA by Grosu.
