Works of rehabilitation of centralized irrigation system start in Stefan Voda district of Moldova
The rehabilitation works have begun for the centralized irrigation system in the settlements of Crocmaz and Caplani, Stefan Voda district.
The rehabilitation of the centralized irrigation system is funded by the state, with contributions from members of the Water Users Association, through funds accessed by the government from the World Bank.
“The project aims for the complete modernization of two pumping stations, the rehabilitation of a storage basin with a capacity of about 82,000 cubic metres, the construction of about 50 km of pipelines and the setting of 119 aluminum hydrants. The rehabilitated infrastructure will return approximately 2,500 hectares of farmland to the irrigable circuit. The total investment is about 8.4 million dollars,’’ says the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry.
The project is implemented by the Consolidated Unit for the Implementation and Monitoring of Projects in the Field of Agriculture (UCIMPA), in partnership with a Moldovan-Turkish consortium and the National Agency for Land Improvement, under the Agriculture Governance, Growth, and Resilience (AGGRI) programme, financed by the World Bank.
