This week 35 official veterinarians and inspectors from the Territorial Subdivisions of the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA) participated in a new practical training session on animal sample collection, held as part of the course 'Methods and techniques for sampling analyzed within the national residue and antimicrobial resistance monitoring plan.

The training took place in poultry and pig farms, providing participants the opportunity to practice essential techniques for monitoring the use of pharmacological substances in animal husbandry and ensuring compliance with national legislation and European Union regulations.

'The topics addressed during the training included the planning and organization of sampling in animal farms; proper sampling and transportation of samples; applicable procedures in case of non-compliant results; investigations on illegal treatments or the use of unauthorized substances. Particular emphasis was placed on the monitoring and control of residues from active pharmacological substances, both authorized and prohibited, to strengthen veterinary and sanitary control and to prevent public health risks,' explains ANSA.

The activity is part of a broader professional development program, now in its second phase, following the first round held on May 4–10, 2025, in Brașov, Romania.

The training was organized by ANSA, with support from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Public Institution 'National Center for Animal, Plant and Food Safety', within the EU-funded project Improving Standards Compliance through Increased National Capacities for Residue Monitoring.

'Through these activities, we reaffirm our commitment to aligning veterinary and food safety practices with European standards, actively contributing to consumer protection and strengthening trust in the safety of food products in the Republic of Moldova,' summarizes ANSA.
