
Moldovan president welcomes European Council's decision
Head of state Maia Sandu today welcomed the final declaration of the European Council meeting on 26 June, in which 27 EU state leaders reiterated strong support for Moldova’s European path and invited the Council to proceed to the next stage in the negotiation process, emphasizing that Moldova is ready to open the first group of chapters on fundamental values.
Maia Sandu expressed appreciation for the recognition of our country's progress in the reform process and noted that Moldova remains committed to building a European future for all Moldovan citizens.
“I welcome the European Council's conclusions, which reaffirm strong support for Moldova's sovereignty, resilience, and EU accession path. We appreciate the recognition of our reform progress and remain committed to building a European future for all Moldovan citizens,” Maia Sandu wrote on platform X.
The 27 EU state leaders reiterated in the final declaration of the European Council strong support for Moldova's European path and invited the Council to proceed to the next stage in the negotiation process, emphasizing that Moldova is ready to open the first group of chapters on fundamental values.
Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov said that this is an unprecedented recognition of our country's efforts and an important signal that on its European path, Moldova enjoys the full support of all 27 EU member states.
