Moldovan parliament adopts Declaration in support of Ukraine; parliament speaker says parliament of Moldova stands with Ukrainian people
The parliament of has adopted a Declaration, thereby expressing its firm and unconditional support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, within the internationally recognized borders of 1991.
The document firmly condemns the brutal aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, which started on February 26, 2014, with the illegal annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, continued with the introduction of Russian troops into eastern Ukraine and escalated on February 24, 2022, into an unprovoked full-scale war against a sovereign and democratic state.
The Moldovan parliament reiterates that Ukraine has the right to decide its internal, external and security policies sovereignly, including the right to self-defense, and any illegal annexation of Ukrainian territories by the Russian Federation will not be recognized by Moldova.
The Declaration also condemns the Kremlin's official propaganda, which attempts to justify the invasion with false claims regarding the illegitimacy of Kyiv's leadership, labeling it as a 'Nazi regime.' The parliament describes these claims as gross distortions of reality in a democratic and European country.
At the same time, the parliament of Moldova calls upon parliaments worldwide to adopt similar stances in support of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
