Moldova to receive 12 million euros from Belgium for improving access to drinking water in rural areas

The Republic of Moldova will benefit from financial support amounting to 12 million euros from the Kingdom of Belgium for the implementation of Decentralized drinking water supply for Moldova project. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development (MIDR) Vladimir Bolea and Belgian Ambassador to Chisinau Evert Maréchal signed the loan agreement today.

The project envisages the installation of 85 drinking water kiosks in the country's rural areas, infrastructure that will serve at least 55,000 citizens in areas where access to clean water is limited.

'Through this project, communities will have access to clean, filtered water through specially set-up kiosks, offering a modern and safe alternative in localities that currently depend on wells,' stated Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea, thanking Belgium for the 'strategic partnership and investments with direct impact on people's lives'.

The initiative represents an important step in ensuring the fundamental right to water for citizens in rural areas and reflects the shared commitment of the Republic of Moldova and Belgium to improving living conditions.
