Activists, academics, diaspora leaders join PAS team
Ludmila Adamciuc, founder of the organization “My Friend”, Viorel Bostan, rector of the Technical University of Moldova, and Iurie Cojocaru, leader of one of the largest Moldovan communities in the UK joined the team of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) today. During a press conference, PAS leader Igor Grosu introduced the new candidates who will be featured on the PAS electoral list for the parliamentary elections on September 28.
At the beginning of the conference, Igor Grosu mentioned that several prominent figures have decided to join this very important mission of putting the Republic of Moldova on the path of European development, prosperity and respect for every citizen.
“As we did last time, I am joined by remarkable people, professionals in their fields, who have reflected deeply and decided to actively contribute to this collective effort of modernizing the country. It is with great pleasure that I introduce Mrs. Ludmila Adamciuc, founder of the organization ‘My Friend’, an activist known for promoting the inclusion and acceptance of children with disabilities. It's a sensitive yet fundamental subject for a truly European society. We are talking about children, teenagers, and adults who need support, empathy, and dedicated policies. Our mission is to do everything within our power to create conditions for their integration, so these people can showcase their talents and skills,” Grosu said.
“I embarked on this path with arms full of diapers, questions, and a lot of uncertainty, following the birth of my daughter Beatrice, who was diagnosed with Down syndrome. I realized then how fragile rights can be, but also how strong the voices defending them must be. From a simple search for support, I became an active voice for inclusion. I founded an organization, launched projects supporting children with disabilities and their families, and created a platform for parents—all out of a genuine desire to better understand and do more for my daughter and for other children and adults developing differently from us. Today, I responsibly accept the invitation from President Maia Sandu and the PAS platform to be part of the electoral list. Not to change direction, but to continue, in an institutional framework, the efforts started in civil society. I believe in European values: dignity, respect, equality. They have been my compass and will remain my main benchmark,” said Adamciuc.
Igor Grosu continued the conference by introducing another personality joining the PAS team.
“Viorel Bostan, the rector of the Technical University of Moldova, university professor, with a doctorate in technical sciences. Together with his colleagues, Bostan managed to transform UTM into a benchmark institution, not only in the Republic of Moldova but also regionally. The Technical University is perhaps the institution that best resonates with the current demands of the labor market. All public investments we make in education must reflect in the training of specialists who respond to technological and economic transformations. We thank him for the decision to actively contribute to the building of a modern and European Moldova,” added Grosu.
Viorel Bostan mentioned during the conference that 20 years ago, when he returned home after studies in Romania and the United States, he did so with the firm belief that the only development direction for our country is European integration.
“We went through periods of uncertainty when it seemed that this path was not possible, but today, thanks to the efforts led by President Maia Sandu, PAS, and the Government of the Republic of Moldova, we are in a historic moment. We have become a candidate country for EU membership, we have initiated negotiations, and the prospects are clearer than ever. That is precisely why I decided to get directly involved and accept to be part of the Party of Action and Solidarity's electoral list. It is a responsibility I assume to contribute, from within the system, to continue reforms in education, research, and the economy. I believe in our country's potential, and I am convinced that Moldova's place is in the European Union,” Bostan said.
In conclusion, Igor Grosu presented a message from afar. “Today, Mr. Iurie Cojocaru, president of one of the largest Moldovan communities in the United Kingdom, joins us, even if from a distance. He is an entrepreneur, activist, and author, known for promoting the success stories of our compatriots abroad. Through his voice, the diaspora once again demonstrates that it remains connected to the country's destiny, actively contributing to its development, even from thousands of kilometers away,” concluded Grosu.
In his video message, Iurie Cojocaru mentioned that he accepted the invitation to run on the Party of Action and Solidarity list to represent the diaspora in Chisinau Parliament.
“I strongly believe that Moldova has the unique opportunity to ensure its European future. EU integration is not just a political ambition, it is a necessity for the younger generations, for young entrepreneurs, for parents who want security, education, and stability. The diaspora has always been part of the country's European path. As part of this community, I commit to bringing the diaspora's voice into the legislature and to contribute to accelerating reforms.”
The conference concluded with an appeal for unity by Igor Grosu.
“On September 28, we do not just vote, we decide the direction in which the country will go: towards Europe, prosperity, and safety or back into the geopolitical chaos of the past. There is no time for hesitation. It is time for determination.”
