Radio Moldova Comrat officially launched; spokesman for Moldovan government describes event as excellent news for media pluralism in Gagauz region, in entire country
Gagauzia has a new public radio station as of today: Radio Moldova Comrat, officially launched with the aim of promoting media pluralism and bringing information closer to the citizens of the region, according to the government’s spokesman, Daniel Voda.
The initiative represents an important step in strengthening ties between communities and more accurately reflecting local realities.
"It is excellent news for media pluralism in the Gagauz region and the entire country," the official said.
Radio Moldova Comrat will broadcast 24 original programmes daily, of which 12 hours of content will be produced in the Gagauz and Russian languages, alongside shows in Romanian - the official language of the state. The schedule will include local news, cultural, educational and entertainment programmes, all tailored to the region's specificities. The rest of the programming will consist of re-broadcasts of Radio Moldova shows.
The station can be received on frequencies 105.6 FM in Comrat and 104.3 FM in Vulcanesti, thus ensuring effective regional coverage.
"I sincerely wish much success to the colleagues who will create these programmes day by day," noted Daniel Voda. The spokesman for the government expressed his happiness with this achievement and the hope of a future visit to the new studio in Comrat.
The launch of Radio Moldova Comrat is seen as a local initiative in expression, but national in value - a model of inclusive and representative communication for all citizens.
