Fifteen model schools to be renovated in Moldova by 2030 with support from Council of Europe Development Bank

The network of model schools of Moldova will be expanded with 15 more educational institutions, based on a framework loan agreement ratified by the parliament today.

The loan provided by the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) is worth 30 million euros, and the funds will be invested in the renovation and modernization of the educational infrastructure. The loan agreement is valid till December 31, 2030 and the amounts will be disbursed in two installments.

The aim of the expansion is to enhance access to quality education, especially for children from vulnerable groups and overcrowded rural or urban areas, and to prevent school dropout.

The Ministry of Education and Research says that the new round of modernization will increase the total number of model schools in the country to 50.

The concept of model schools involves modern learning environments, safe and adapted spaces for the needs of students and teachers, as well as teaching focused on innovation and inclusion.

The project is also supported by international partners, such as the World Bank, the European Union, United nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the private sector, which has announced contributions of about 17 million lei for the development of the network.
