Moldova officially opened embassy in Astana

The Republic of Moldova has officially inaugurated Embassy in Astana, the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The opening ceremony took place in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi, his Kazakh counterpart, Murat Nurtleu, as well as representatives of diplomatic staff.

The event began with the signing in the embassy's Honor Book by the two ministers.

In his speech, Mihai Popșoi emphasized the strategic importance of the new mission.

“The opening of the embassy in Astana reflects Moldova's commitment to developing a sustainable cooperation with Kazakhstan and the entire Central Asian region. We want to be closer to our citizens and also to the opportunities offered by this region,” the minister stated.

Murat Nurtleu conveyed congratulations and highlighted the essential role the new embassy will play in strengthening bilateral dialogue and cooperation in areas such as economy, culture and education.

“It is an honor to be here to mark an important moment in the relations between Kazakhstan and Moldova. The opening of the embassy strengthens Kazakhstan's ties with the international community and contributes to the development of friendship and cooperation in various fields with Moldova. I assure you of the full support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Government of Kazakhstan,” Nurtleu said.

During the ceremony, Popșoi awarded the Honorary Diplomas of the Government of the Republic of Moldova to Aurel Gâscă and Natalia Karagoz, Moldovan citizens residing in Astana, as a sign of appreciation for their active involvement in promoting national interests.

The new Embassy, led by diplomat Ștefan Gorda will provide consular services for Moldovans in Kazakhstan and will contribute to the development of the economic, political and cultural ties between Moldova and Kazakhstan.
