Moldovans working in Switzerland to have access to pensions and social guarantees
Moldovans residing in the Swiss Confederation will be able to benefit from pensions and other social guarantees, based on a new international agreement. Parliament of the Republic of Moldova has ratified the Social Security Agreement signed on June 2, 2025, in Bern.
The document targets employees, self-employed workers, posted workers, as well as personnel of diplomatic and consular missions of the two states. They will be able to receive old-age pensions, disability pensions, and survivor pensions, in conditions proportional to the insurance period accumulated in each state.
Thus, each country will pay the portion of the pension corresponding to the contribution period made on its territory. The new provision offers direct social protection to Moldovan citizens who have worked legally in Switzerland, ensuring the continuity of their pension rights.
Currently, the Republic of Moldova has 18 bilateral social security agreements in force with various countries.
