VIDEO // Crime ring selling forged identity documents dismantled by anticorruption officers of Moldova

Prosecutors of the prosecutor’s Office for Combating the Organized Crime and Special Causes (PCCOCS) and officers of the Interior Ministry’s (MAI) Internal Protection and Anticorruption Service (SPIA) have dismantled a crime ring that was selling Romanian identity cards, as well as Moldovan driver's licenses and ID cards for 150-350 euros.

One of the last transactions of the crime ring took place in Balti, when a group member allegedly sold a Moldovan driver's license with signs of forgery for 350 euros to an individual - a sale monitored within the already documented scheme by the MAI’s SPIA.

Subsequently, under the leadership of the Prosecutor's Office for Combatting Organized Crime and Special Cases, the 41-year-old suspect was detained and investigations continued regarding other members of the crime ring, who recognize  their guilt.

Searches followed in Balti and Chisinau among group members specializing not only in selling, but also in manufacturing fake documents. As a result, seven Romanian identity cards with visible signs of forgery and a fake Moldovan driver's license were seized.

The criminal investigation is ongoing, during which individuals are presumed innocent under the law. In the context, authorities encourage citizens to follow the legal procedures required, in order to get identity documents and driver's licenses.
