Law on 3,000 lei supplement for young employees signed by head of state

The law providing a monthly supplement of 3,000 lei to the salary of young people employed in their first job in key industries has been signed by head of state Maia Sandu. President said the initiative aims to motivate young specialists to remain active at home, in the Republic of Moldova.

“As promised in Moldova plan, I signed today the law that offers a financial supplement of 3,000 lei per month, for a year, to young people who get employed in their first job in seven key sectors for the country's development. These funds are in addition to the salary offered by the employer,” Maia Sandu said.

The salary supplement will be granted to young people employed in sectors such as the electronics industry, the chemical and pharmaceutical industry, the automotive and machinery manufacturing industry, the textile and clothing industry, the construction materials industry, the food industry and the creative industry.

Maia Sandu mentioned that the authorities intend, through this program, to persuade young people to choose to work in the Republic of Moldova.

“We want our young people to stay home. We know the first salary isn't always attractive enough. Through this program, we hope to persuade young people to choose Moldova,” Maia Sandu concluded.

The program will be implemented in a pilot regime from July 2025 to December 2026, aiming for about 6,000 young beneficiaries. By 2030, it is estimated that over 9,000 young people will be supported by the measure. The initial funding is about 60 million lei through Buget Plus, with the possibility of adjustments depending on demand.

The program targets young people up to 35 years old, employed full-time. The application for the allowance will be processed entirely digitally through the governmental platforms EVO and MCabinet.

The initiative is part of BUGET PLUS project, presented by Prime Minister Dorin Recean at the beginning of April, being the largest financial package ever allocated by the Government of the Republic of Moldova for investments and economic growth. It includes a total financial resource of 8 billion lei. The resource allocations were made possible with the support of the European Union.
