Heatwave expands in Moldova: air temperatures reach +35 Celsius degrees
The meteorologists have expanded the area under the yellow heatwave warning, valid until June 27.
Thus, according to the State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS), in the southern and central districts of the country, maximal air temperatures will reach values of +33...+35°C.
SHS issued this summer's first yellow heatwave warning in the beginning of this week, initially valid only for the south and partially the center of the country.
In the context, doctors and rescuers come up with recommendations for the population. People are urged to avoid prolonged sun exposure, stay properly hydrated, wear hats and light clothing made of natural, light-colored materials and avoid intense physical effort outdoors during peak hours.
At the same time, today, meteorologists issued a yellow fire hazard warning. It is valid all over Moldova from June 27 to July 3. The population is warned to avoid using open fire near homes, household annexes and fodder warehouses, on lands covered with dry vegetation, especially when they are near forests, plantations or high-risk fire objects.
In the case of the yellow code, weather conditions are potentially dangerous, and the forecast meteorological phenomena are usual for the country's territory, but can temporarily become hazardous for certain social and economic activities.
