Soroca, Otaci, Vulcanesti to have roads rehabilitated with EBRD support
The Republic of Moldova will receive an additional funding of 40 million euros from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the rehabilitation of four sections of national roads. The Parliament ratified today the amendment of the Loan Agreement initially signed in 2013.
With this additional instalment, the total value of the loan granted by the EBRD amounts to 290 million euros. The funding is part of the Road Rehabilitation in Moldova IV Project and will cover not only the rehabilitation works but also the consultancy and technical supervision services required for implementation.
Thus, the following roads are to be rehabilitated: R14 road, on Soroca – Arionești section; R8.1 road, between Arionești and Otaci; M3 road, on the bypass segment of the city of Vulcanesti; R33 road, on Hâncești – Lăpușna – M1 route.
The project aims to improve the quality of transport infrastructure, road safety, and regional connectivity, especially in border areas.
