The National Road Administration (AND) announced today that in May 2025, about 222.42 million lei were utilized for rehabilitation, maintenance, and modernization of road infrastructure in the Republic of Moldova. According to road administrators, the investments reflect a firm commitment to improving road safety and comfort, benefiting citizens across the country.

“From the total amount, over 37 million lei were allocated for major repairs of roads and bridges. Among the major ongoing projects are: the repair of the R26 road Bender – Căușeni – Cimișlia, including bridge rehabilitation; construction of the bridge over Bâc River and the overpass on the national road M1 (Phase II); exterior sewerage arrangement on the same route; stabilization of embankments on the national road M5; construction of a roundabout on R6, in Peresecina village; capital repairs on roads G39, G104.1, G108, G109, G113, and others,” explains AND.

Currently, 14 active construction sites are underway according to the Road Fund Program for 2025. Additionally, traffic has been reopened on two important sections: the overpass on the R6 railway (km 132,080) and the intersection G108 – L478, where a new roundabout has been built.

“Approximately 182 million lei were utilized for the current maintenance of national roads, directed towards asphalt repairs (patching, cracks); rehabilitation of sidewalks and strengthening of shoulders; maintenance of signs and road markings; works on bridges, culverts, waiting stations, and street lighting. Additionally, 3.06 million lei were allocated for co-financing local road rehabilitation projects,” indicates AND.

On the periodic maintenance segment, work is being executed on approximately 45 sections of regional roads (G), distributed across 36 lots. The overall progress of the work exceeds 70%, with 10 sections completed and nine more nearing completion. These roads connect localities in the districts of Ungheni, Strășeni, Dubăsari, Basarabeasca, Cantemir, Drochia, and others.

Furthermore, new works have commenced on the sections R15.1 Bălți – M5 (2.3 km); G94 – Boldurești – Valea-Trestieni (km 10.95 – 16.90); G116 – Volontiri (km 16.71 – 18.51); G114 – Răscăieți – Purcari (km 23.74 – 25.11). To enhance road safety, a temporary roundabout is being arranged at the intersection R30 – L573.2 (Căușeni).

Also in May, about 1.3 million lei were spent on design, technical evaluation, and land acquisition activities.

In early June, the Government approved an increase in the budget for the repair and maintenance of national public roads. The additional amount of 1 billion lei, allocated through PLUS Budget, is to be included in the Road Fund's resources, which will total nearly 2.7 billion lei.

Currently, National Road Administration manages 5,993 km of national roads, including: 631 km of express roads, 2,011 km of republican roads, and 3,350 km of regional roads.
