Moldovan president attends inauguration of renovated building of Cahul Public Health Center
President Maia Sandu today attended the inauguration of the renovated building of the Cahul Public Health Center, modernized with the support of the World Bank amounting to 31 million lei.
“For many years, little has been invested in the medical infrastructure. We have tried to compensate for this gap and have invested over 3 billion lei in such projects nationwide. Today, the Center from Cahul is fully renovated and provides better conditions for both employees and patients. It is yet another clear proof of our firm commitment to the people and to a stronger medical system,” the head of state said.
In the last three years alone, the medical system of the Cahul district has benefited from about 94 million lei. The district hospital was endowed with high-performance equipment, the gynecology and intensive care units were renovated, the primary stroke center was inaugurated and ambulances were purchased. In six villages, such as Brinza, Larga Noua, or Pascani, pharmacies were opened with the state’s financial support.
Also today, the government approved a financing agreement with the European Investment Bank, amounting to 100 million euros, for the construction of a regional hospital in Cahul. The new institution will provide medical services to the residents of Cahul and the districts of Comrat, Leova, Ceadar-Lunga, Taraclia, Cantemir, and Vulcanesti.
