Deputy PM for European integration thanks Poland for support to Moldova during EU Presidency
Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov has conveyed a message of gratitude to Poland, in the context of the conclusion of its presidency of the Council of the European Union. The Moldovan official thanked, in particular, Ambassador Agnieszka Bartol, Poland's Permanent Representative to the EU, and the Warsaw authorities for the consistent support provided to Moldova in the past six months.
According to Cristina Gherasimov, the Polish presidency period was one with significant achievements in Moldova's European path.
“On this period, we managed to advance in the screening process (review of national legislation in comparison to European standards), finish the procedures for adopting the Growth Plan, register progress in the field of security, join the Single Euro Payment Area, and make significant transformations in the country,” said the deputy prime minister.
The Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which ends on Monday, June 30, 2025, was marked by a clear focus on such priorities as security and defense, at the expense of other community topics, such as migration or enlargement. Under the slogan “Security, Europe!”, Poland took advantage of the tense geopolitical context and the temporary weakening of France's and Germany's influence – both affected by domestic crises – to assert its role as a regional power and an influential actor in the European decision-making architecture.
