The government has launched, for the first time, the National Fund for Innovation and Technological Transfer, which will support young innovators, finance their projects and create friendly spaces for developing modern solutions for the Moldova. The fund has a budget of 35 million lei for the next two years.

“This event proves that we aim to generate more value added. Moldova can, we have a lot of creativity and inventiveness. We are looking for long-term capital; this is a tool through which we will encourage innovation, research and this will also attract significant foreign capital,” emphasized Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

The new fund will finance innovation and technological transfer projects, as well as the creation of spaces where ideas can be tested and improved – hubs, laboratories, incubators. At the same time, the goal is to connect universities with companies and support young researchers and startups.

The PM noted that there had been already several projects and startups initiated in  Moldova and successfully implemented internationally. Among them, there are an application for personal finance management (Salt Edge), an algorithm for the  security of electricity networks and an interactive educational platform for learning foreign languages (FunEasyLearn). The activities of robotics and STEM clubs were also highlighted, as well as educational projects like Bloomcoding, which train the digital generation.

“Moldova can. We already have examples showing this: we have startups that have expanded internationally, we have young people who have returned home and are building industrial robots or electronic chips, we have successful educational projects, showing that Moldova has talented people with whom we can build a stronger economy,” added Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

The National Fund for Innovation and Technological Transfer will be managed by the National Agency for Research and Development.
