VIDEO // SIS: Alexandr Nesterovschi under direct protection of Russian special services
The Intelligence and Security Service /SIS/ announces that MP Alexandr Nesterovschi is in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova, under the direct protection of Russian special services.
In a press conference, SIS director Alexandru Musteață said he holds confirmed information on involvement of the Russian Federation authorities, including special services and the Russian Embassy in the Republic of Moldova, in helping Alexandr Nesterovschi evade national law enforcement bodies.
On 18 March 2025, at 20:15, a day before the sentencing, Alexandr Nesterovschi was documented entering the territory of the Russian Federation embassy in Chișinău. Subsequently, on 19 March 2025, he was transported with a vehicle bearing the Russian embassy's diplomatic plates to the Transnistrian region, where he currently remains under the direct protection of Russian special services.
The SIS head noted that at the time of announcing Alexandr Nesterovschi's 12-year sentence in a closed penitentiary, he was already on the left bank of the Dniester River.
He added that another aspect confirming the Russian Federation's involvement in Nesterovschi's protection is the fact that although he had held Russian citizenship for some time, on the day of his sentencing, Russian government media actively promoted the news on his granting of Russian citizenship.
SIS points out that Alexandr Nesterovschi is part of the criminal network coordinated by Ilan Shor, who also evades imprisonment for a term of 15 years.
