Six universities to get additional funding of 17 million lei from MEC

Six universities in the Republic of Moldova will modernize their study  buildings and dormitories, as well as purchase new equipment after receiving additional funding worth 17 million lei from the Ministry of Education and Research /MEC/.

The projects due to be funded by MEC were selected under a contest.

Thus, Moldova State University will receive funding of 3.36 million lei to repair the dormitory No. 19, as well as to renovate the swim pool's changing rooms on 31 August 1989 Street in Chișinău.

The Technical University of Moldova will receive an additional 4.1 million lei for renovation and equipping of study rooms in building no. 19, where the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine is located. Resources have been approved for purchasing computers and tablets, equipped according to software requirements used in study programs of the specialties Animation and Game Design.

The Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova will receive funding of 3 million lei for installing a photovoltaic system on the roofs of its study buildings, as well as for completing thermal insulation and renovation works on the balconies of dormitory no. 4.

Ion Creangă State Pedagogical University will benefit from funding of 3.9 million lei for the reconstruction of the ground floor of study building no. 2 and technological support for study programs Animation and Game Design.

Alecu Russo State University of Bălți will receive 1.5 million lei for purchasing and installing a 100 KW photovoltaic panel system for the Nortek Innovation and Technology Transfer Center.

Comrat State University will receive funding of one million lei for replacing the heating, water supply, and sewage systems in the student dormitory.

This year, the Ministry of Education and Research will allocate 2 million lei from the additional funding for student project financing.

Complementary funding is one of the three types of funding granted to public higher education institutions operating under conditions of financial autonomy. It is allocated for improving dormitory conditions, modernizing material and teaching resources, equipping with computers, software, and equipment, financing specific institutional development projects.
