Moldova's General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations to have 19 new intervention vehicles

The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) has received 19 special intervention vehicles, donated by the government of Japan.

The event on the delivery of the special vehicles took place on the Great National Assembly Square (PMAN) today. Attending the ceremony, President Maia Sandu stressed the importance of this support for the improvement of the time of reaction in emergency situations.

„I want to reiterate the gratitude to the Japanese partners for the generous support  and, at the same time, to thank you, rescuers, for the courage, devotion and tireless work in the service of people,’’ the Moldovan president said.

Interior Minister Daniella Misail-Nichitin also highlighted Japan’s role in the consolidation of Moldova’s intervention infrastructure.

„This support helps us create a more resilient, stronger and quicker infrastructure in the face of crises,’’ the minister said.

According to IGSU, the special vehicles, made in Japan, will be distributed in ten settlements and is part of the Moldovan-Japanese project, Improvement of fire prevention equipment. The equipment was purchased with a grant worth about 240 million lei. The special vehicles will be used in missions following technical trainings.
