Construction works on Vulcănești – Chișinău overhead power line are progressing with the execution of foundations and the assembly and installation of towers. The site extends over about 95 km, and more than 170 workers are involved in the activities.
According to the Energy Projects Implementation Unit (UCIPE), currently, eight teams of workers are involved in the works, with a total number of over 170 people. The worker teams are carrying out foundation execution, tower assembly, and installation in two directions: towards Chișinău and Vulcănești.
Work is also progressing at Chișinău Electricity Station, where foundations for equipment installation are being finalized. The next stage is the installation of metal construction and the mounting of electrical equipment. The new electrical installations will cover an area of up to two hectares, according to UCIPE.
Authorities assure that the Line will be completed and connected to the Moldelectrica State Enterprise infrastructure, through Vulcănești electrical station and Chișinău electrical station by late 2025.
Construction works on Vulcănești-Chișinău power line officially began in April 2024 and are part of the Power System Development Project, funded by the World Bank Group. Its value is 61 million euros, of which approximately 27 million euros are for the construction of the Line.
The construction of Vulcănești-Chișinău power line is a strategic importance project for the energy security of our country. The new power line will facilitate the transport of electricity from Romania or other European markets to Chișinău without passing through the Moldovan power plant located in the Transnistrian region.
