Moldovan parliament passes tax and customs facilities for Bîc river rehabilitation project
On 10 April Parliament adopted a bill on tax and customs facilities for the implementation of the project Rehabilitation of Bîc river and flood protection in Chișinău.
The measure will allow exemption from VAT, customs duties and fees for customs procedures for the import and delivery of goods and services intended for the implementation of the project.
The initiative belongs to unaffiliated deputy Gaik Vartanean, who says that the exemptions will generate savings of about four million euros.
The Rehabilitation of Bîc River project has a total budget of 12 million euros, of which eight million come from a loan and four million from a grant awarded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The planned interventions include improving the stormwater management system, rearranging the river channel over a distance of 7.6 kilometers, rehabilitating sewage networks and installing check valves, aimed at reducing flood risks and damages caused by torrential rains.
