Deputy PM says Moldova ready to strengthen EU's security
The enlargement of the European Union represents a guarantee for a safer and more stable future for the entire continent, and Moldova is ready to actively contribute to consolidating European security. Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov has made statements to this effect at the first EU Enlargement Forum, held in Brussels today.
"Moldova can make a real contribution to Europe's security. We will continue to work at the same pace and with the same confidence that our place is in the large European family," said Cristina Gherasimov.
In her intervention, Cristina Gherasimov emphasized that Moldova had become an example of determination and consistency in implementing reforms.
"In the past year, we have managed to make the most significant progress among all candidate states for EU accession, while daily battling Russian interference," the deputy PM also said.
The official thanked Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos for launching this forum, expressing hope that the initiative would become an annual platform for dialogue between member and candidate states, in the context of the new dynamics of the enlargement process.
