VIDEO // Moldova's Bureau for European Integration presents most important events of 2025

The Bureau for European Integration (BIE) has presented the most important events of 2025 in the European journey of Moldova. The first event mentioned took place in Chisinau on May 9, where European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos and the former Prime Minister Dorin Recean, signed the Growth Plan for Moldova, worth 1.9 billion euros, which represents the largest financial support received by our country.

Another significant event occurred at the end of May, when the government adopted the National Programme for EU Accession. This serves as the roadmap to the European Union. Thus, over 3,000 European acts will be transposed into national legislation.

“On July 4, Chisinau hosted the first Moldova-European Union Summit, under the auspices of President Maia Sandu. The event was attended by President of the European Council Antonio Costa and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. It was the moment when the relationship with the EU entered a new political stage,” emphasized the BIE.

On Independence Day, Moldova had important guests: President of France Emmanuel Macron, Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz and Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk. Their message was clear: Moldova's future is in the European Union.

“On September 22, in Brussels, Moldova concluded the bilateral screening stage. In a record time of just 15 months, during sessions organized in Chisinau, Luxembourg and Brussels, over one hundred thousand pages of national legislation were analyzed against the European one. In December, our country began technical-level negotiations on chapters 1, 2, and 6 - Fundamental Values, Internal Market, and External Relations,” said the BIE.

At the parliamentary elections of September 28, the citizens of Moldova chose to continue the European path. The new Moldovan parliament created a Commission for European Integration, led by MP Marcel Spatari.

Starting October 6, 2025, citizens of Moldova could make faster, safer and cheaper euro transfers between all EU member countries. In the first month of joining SEPA (Single European Payments Area), citizens saved 1.4 million euros in money transfer fees.

“In the last 12 months, our country has made progress on each negotiation chapter for EU accession and the level of preparation has increased in two-thirds of the chapters, according to the annual enlargement report published by the European Commission. On November 7, 2025, the European Parliament Office for Eastern Partnership states was inaugurated in Chisinau,” noted the BIE.

The new government led by Alexandru Munteanu has set 10 key priorities on the path to joining the European Union.

“They will help us transform the country into a place where you want and can build a secure and prosperous future, where justice is at the forefront, the economy develops and ensures a better living for citizens and young people choose to stay at home,” the BIE also said.

The Moldovan authorities emphasize that these stages mark crucial moments in the EU accession negotiations, which will lay the groundwork for future progress in the process of Moldova’s integration into the European Union.
