Japanese investor set to create about 3,000 jobs in Moldova

Chisinau, 27 June /MOLDPRES/ - The Fujikura Company is set to launch production in Moldova, and in the first phase, to create about 700 jobs. Subsequently, this figure might go up to 3,000 jobs. Chair of Fujikura   Automotive Europe Kimio Koizumi made statements to this effect at a today’s  meeting with Prime Minister Pavel Filip, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.     
The PM welcomed this intention of the investor, stressing that the government’s goal was to improve the living standards of the residents, and this means investments in the Moldovan economy, new jobs and decent salaries.  
Pavel Filip said the government was an ally of the investors, being permanently concerned about improving the business environment. “To this end, we have established a moratorium on state controls, approved a government draft law on cutting the number of entities with control duties from 69 to 11, plus five national regulators. Also, we reduced the number of permissive acts by 25 per cent and cancelled more customs orders,” the PM noted.   .
Among the important decisions, Pavel Filip also referred to the creation of the Economic Council under the Prime Minister. “The Economic Council represents a platform of communication with the business environment. Participants in the working groups of the Council tackle current issues, identify solutions, so that, subsequently, the government at its meetings approves the needed decisions to overcome these constraints, or good ideas suggested by investors are put into practice,” Pavel Filip said.       
For his part, Chair of Fujikura Automotive Europe Kimio Koizumi said he intended to start production in Moldova in next August. Now, persons due to work at the plant are employed. “We are interested in being present and quite active in Moldova. If things go as we want, in the next two years and a half, we will extend the business and will employ up to 3,000 people,” Koizumi stressed.
The Fujikura company, in the first stage, plans to carry out an investment project on the territory of the Free Economic Zone (FEZ) Expo Business Chisinau, with possibility to extent in Cahul, where a subzone of FEZ Balti was opened.     
The Fujikura company is a world producer of automotive electric systems, electronics and telecommunications with over 53,000 employees globally and a turnover exceeding five billion dollars. Fujikura Automotive Europe is present in Germany, Romania, Spain and has recently opened new factories in Ukraine and Russia.
