New EU funding prospects: Moldova can access larger budgets through Interreg programs
The non-reimbursable financial assistance provided under Interreg NEXT Romania - Moldova 2021-2027 Program will increase by 20 million euros. The necessary amendments in this regard have been approved by the government.
Thus, the total budget of the program will amount to 97.3 million euros. These funds are intended for joint projects carried out by partners from Romania and Moldova in areas such as health, education, tourism, culture, climate change, good governance and border management.
So far, Moldova has benefited from significant funding through the program and a new call for projects is planned for the end of April 2025.
Also today, the government approved an increase of 20 million euros to the budget of the EU-funded transnational program Interreg Black Sea Basin 2021-2027.
The program with a total budget of 85 million euros brings together 8 countries, including the Republic of Moldova and aims to support research and innovation projects, climate change adaptation, disaster risk prevention, nature protection and strengthening community relations.
The Republic of Moldova has already accessed significant funding through this program: 10 projects worth 1.5 million euros were selected in the first call and 13 projects worth 3.7 million euros in the second call.
