PM visits village in southern Moldova

Prime Minister Dorin Recean has visited a pastry business managed by Iulia Albu. The entrepreneur started her own business in her native village of Manta, southern  Cahul district, in 2024, after 14 years of working in France.

In discussions, the businesswoman expressed willingness to expand the pastry shop and sell products not only in the village, but also in other settlements. At the same time, the PM encouraged Albu to develop her business and apply for support programs for entrepreneurs backed by the government.

Also in the village of Manta, the prime minister visited the Community Centre, which is being capital renovated through the European Village 2 programme and will be equipped with new furniture, efficient heating, lighting and air conditioning systems.

The new infrastructure also includes the installation of photovoltaic panels on the building's roof. ‘’The institution already produces green energy and we plan to conclude contracts to sell the surplus of solar energy,’’ said the mayor of the commune, Violeta Hincu, noting that this solution significantly reduces the maintenance costs of the building.

It is worth mentioning that the Community Centre will also host a modern youth center, which includes a cinema hall, a library, a creative ideas incubator, a graphic design room and a dance club. Thus, young people in the region will be able to benefit from a wide range of interesting and useful activities for their development.

‘’I am happy that the village of Manta is rich in cultural people, artists, dancers, craftsmen, and active young people, and most importantly, they all, including locals, will be able to enjoy modern conditions in their activities,’’ said the prime minister. He emphasized active involvement of local authorities in infrastructure development.

All repair works are scheduled to be completed by next August. The government will allocate over four million lei for the carrying out of this project, and the contribution of local public authorities will represent constitute 15 per cent.

It is worth to be mentioned that, two years ago, the Manta village mayoralty benefited from resources for the setting of stage lights and a curtain for the concert hall of the Community Centre, through the Express European Village programme.

More than 4,000 people live in the Manta commune.
