Prime Minister in dialogue with business community: less bureaucracy, clear rules and more investment
The changes needed to create a more competitive, predictable and investment-attractive business environment were discussed by Prime Minister Vasile Tofan with representatives of several business associations. In recent weeks, Vasile Tofan held meetings with the Foreign Investors Association (FIA Moldova), the European Business Association (EBA Moldova) and the American Chamber of Commerce in Moldova (AmCham Moldova).
“The number one priority is revitalizing the economy. To develop the country, we need a strong and successful business sector. Our goal is for the Republic of Moldova to become the most business-friendly country in Europe, with conditions for entrepreneurs and investors that are better than those in the countries of the region. To achieve this, we need an efficient state that costs less, simpler and more business-friendly rules, as well as decisions that we are ready to take responsibility for,” he said.
The Prime Minister emphasized that long-term economic development cannot be based on remittances and external support, and the Republic of Moldova must strengthen its own capacity to produce, attract capital and generate income. In this regard, the Government’s priorities include improving state efficiency, enhancing regulation and creating more competitive conditions for investment.
Discussions with entrepreneurs focused on systemic issues that influence companies’ decisions to invest and expand their activities in the Republic of Moldova. The priorities addressed included reducing bureaucracy and simplifying the regulatory framework, ensuring fiscal and legislative predictability, developing human capital and access to financing, as well as increasing competitiveness in the energy sector. Particular attention was paid to protecting property and investments, accelerating digitalization and creating an environment conducive to innovative entrepreneurship.
Another important topic was harnessing the opportunities offered by European integration and the Growth Plan to attract investment, expand local production and increase added value in the economy. In this context, the Prime Minister highlighted access to larger markets, new financing instruments and better conditions for development and exports.
The official assured that the Government would continue its agenda of deregulation, reducing bureaucracy and digitalizing public services for companies, while dialogue with business associations would remain active so that private-sector proposals could be transformed into concrete policies and measures that enhance the competitiveness of the economy and the Republic of Moldova’s investment appeal.
“Investment goes where there is trust. And trust is built through stable rules, efficient institutions and the state’s ability to turn the problems reported by the business community into concrete solutions,” noted Tofan.
