Moldovan president congratulates academic community's members on 80th anniversary of founding of Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy

President Maia Sandu today attended the ceremony dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF). On this occasion, the head of state congratulated doctors, professors and researchers, highlighting the important mission of this institution - to train professionals who save lives.

"In 1945, in a world just emerging from war, the first medical students came here with a clear desire - to save lives. Today, in 2025, young people choosing medicine live in a completely different world, but their motivation remains the same: a wish to help others," said President Maia Sandu.

The head of state also highlighted the role of the medical community in promoting a conscious and responsible society towards its own health: "The medical community has the mission to encourage people to protect their health throughout their lives, to prevent illnesses and to adopt a balanced lifestyle. You help us instill confidence in science among people. Because a society is healthy only when it believes in science."

President Maia Sandu thanked the University community for their dedication and effort for the common good.

"I want to thank you for every act of care, for every student trained, for every patient helped. Each of you has laid a brick at the foundation of this institution and contributed to saving countless lives. You have proved that excellence is achieved through passion, hard work and vision," the head of state noted.
