Moldovan head of state meets former president of Georgia, awards her Order of the Republic
President Maia Sandu today in Chisinau received Salomé Zourabichvili, President of Georgia during 2018–2024.
On this occasion, President Maia Sandu awarded Mrs. Salomé Zourabichvili the Order of the Republic – a distinction conferred on 26 May 2025, Georgia’s Independence Day, for defending democratic values, preserving and promoting citizens’ dignity, human rights and peace, as well as for her consistent struggle for Georgia’s European future.
The head of state also extended warm congratulations to the Georgian people on the occasion of Independence Day, celebrated on May 26. The Moldovan president stated: "Moldova stands in solidarity with the Georgian people – it supports their struggle for sovereignty and democracy and stands by them in their hope for a European future."
