Prime Minister in Cahul: We will continue to take care of people, country, localities

Government's investments in modernizing the localities in Cahul district, as well as the current challenges facing the citizens of the region were discussed at Prime Minister Dorin Recean's meeting with representatives of local public authorities and decentralized services.

The Prime Minister noted that in recent years, Cahul district has benefited from the implementation of 40 projects through the European Village program and 7 regional development projects, totaling 241 million lei. Additionally, through European Village 2, another 26 projects, worth over 123 million lei are set to be implemented.

Recean reviewed the activities already completed, which have improved the living standards of people in the region. 44 km of aqueduct, 2 treatment plants, 5 artesian wells, and 4 water towers have been built in 6 localities of Cahul district, and this year, 12 more localities will have access to drinking water.

Work is progressing on Cahul sewage treatment plant, with financial assistance provided by Germany and the European Union. The station will serve about 40,000 citizens. At the same time, in agriculture and rural development, farmers and localities in Cahul have benefited from subsidies amounting to 56 million lei.

Regarding road infrastructure, regional roads are being modernized. Work has resumed on the M3 road, Slobozia Mare village belt, and the technical project for R34 Cahul-Giurgiulești road segment, which will be rehabilitated has been completed. Also, repair works for Cantemir-Cahul section are about to start soon, while the rehabilitation of G141 Colibași-Vulcănești road has been completed at 93%.

The official also mentioned the investment of 63 million lei in the renovation and equipping of medical institutions in Cahul, the inauguration of the Stroke Treatment Center, and the opening of several pharmacies through the Pharmacy in your village program. Additionally, 13 million lei have been invested in modernizing and equipping 6 schools and 9 kindergartens.

'Cahul is developing and modernizing rapidly thanks to the support of the government and European funds. These are concrete results showing Moldova's potential. We will continue to take care of people, the country, and our localities,' said Recean.

Local representatives requested support from central authorities in solving issues related to the rehabilitation of local roads, ensuring student transport with school buses and human resource shortage.
