Moldovan PM meets Croatian counterpart

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and his Croatian counterpart Andrej Plenković have discussed the best practices in accelerating accession to the European Union, with Croatia serving as a benchmark for progress in this area.

“Croatia’s experience serves as a source of inspiration and a practical example for Moldova’s own European path,” said Prime Minister Munteanu, expressing gratitude for the constant support provided to the country.

At the same time, the development assistance provided by Croatia through the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) was welcomed, aimed at strengthening infrastructure in the fields of health and education, the social assistance system, and energy security.

The PM of Croatia praised the efforts and progress made by Moldova on the path of modernization and European integration. Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu expressed interest in expanding the range of Moldovan products on the Croatian market, strengthening partnerships with Croatian distributors and attracting private investment, including through the organization of a bilateral business forum.

The two prime ministers expressed their openness to cooperation in the fields of tourism and culture, including through mutual participation in exhibitions and festivals, as well as in major economic events.

Presently, 14 companies with Croatian capital operate in Moldova, with investments exceeding 15 million lei, while bilateral trade reached approximately 78 million dollars in 2025. At the same time, Moldova and Croatia have concluded 16 cooperation agreements covering such areas as the mutual promotion and  protection of investments, trade and economic cooperation, avoidance of double taxation and tourism. Another three draft treaties in the fields of migration, social security, education and research are under negotiation.
