Health at center of Moldovan president's visit to southern region
President Maia Sandu today paid a visit to south Moldova, to Cahul and Giurgiulesti.
In Cahul, President Maia Sandu continued the debates on mental health and online safety, launched a few weeks ago. During a discussion with young people, parents, and teachers, the Moldovan president addressed the risks in the digital environment and the shared responsibility to protect children in the online space.
At the Cahul District Hospital, the head of state also discussed the project of the future Regional Hospital, which is to be built on the site of the current institution. In the context, the sides analyzed the transition stages, as well as the hospital’s capacity to continue handling the high workload and to ensure the continuity of medical services for patients from the entire region.
In the morning, the head of state also visited the two ports in Giurgiulesti. The discussions focused on modernizing these important gateways of Moldova’s trade and on better capitalizing on this strategic point for the development of the economy and the growth of exports.
"The south of the country has hardworking people and great potential. I am confident that we can capitalize on it," said President Maia Sandu.
