Official schedule of events dedicated to Day of Remembrance and Gratitude in Moldova
Commemorative activities honoring the heroes who died during the Transnistria u War of 1992 will start on March 2, at 10:00, with a flower-laying ceremony at the monument of Stephen the Great and Holy. The event will be attended by President Maia Sandu, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu, veterans and representatives of state institutions.
At 10:20, the three leaders will join the veterans of the Transnistria War in the March of Remembrance. The column will be created on the Great National Assembly Square (PMAN) and will proceed towards the Grieving Mother monument. Veterans and all citizens are invited to join the march from its starting point – the PMAN – and to participate in this event of national unity, in order to honor the courage and resilience of our people and to reaffirm the commitment to peace and freedom.
At the Grieving Mother monument, starting at 11:10, the events will continue with a mourning rally, and at 11:30 a national minute of silence will be observed, followed by the laying of flowers at the monument.
On March 2, 2026, Moldova will mark 34 years since the starting of the Transnistria War, and events will be held throughout the country to honor the memory of those who sacrificed their lives for the defense of the independence and territorial integrity of Moldova. Over 30,000 compatriots fought in the Transnistria War, of whom 321 lost their lives.
