Country leadership condemns Russian missile attack on Ukrainian city Sumy
President Maia Sandu and Speaker Igor Grosu have sent messages condemning the missile attack on Ukrainian city, Sumy, which resulted in the deaths of over 20 people.
“Today when Christians gather in prayer for peace, Russia has chosen to sow death. Ukrainian city, Sumy, has been mercilessly hit by another Russian attack. Dozens of families are now mourning the loss of their loved ones. The pain of our neighbors is also our pain. Let us pray for those who protect it and remain united in faith, dignity and defense of life,” wrote Maia Sandu.
Igor Grosu conveyed condolences to the Ukrainian people and the bereaved families. “This is happening in the neighboring country, and such crimes occur daily, with children, parents, and grandparents killed just because they live and want to live in their country and homes. Putin shows he is capable of anything just to satisfy his own imperialistic egos and is indeed a threat to Ukraine, Moldova, and the entire world. Kremlin must answer for all these war crimes,” Grosu said.
The two officials reiterated that the Republic of Moldova reaffirms its firm support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and remains committed to defending peace and democratic values in the region.
