DOC // Moldovan president signs decree on resignation of agriculture minister from office
President Maia Sandu has signed the decree on the resignation of Radu Musteata from the position of Agriculture and Food Industry Minister. The document today was published on the Presidency’s website.
“It is hereby taken note of the resignation of Mr. Radu Musteata from the position of Agriculture and Food Industry minister, as of 24 July 2026,” the presidential decree reads.
Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Radu Musteata submitted his resignation today morning. Prime Minister Vasile Tofan made statements to this effect.
In recent days, information has appeared in the public space, according to which Radu Musteata was previously a member of the former Democratic Party of Moldova led by Vladimir Plahotniuc, and a photograph was also published in which Musteata was allegedly receiving his party membership card.
Radu Musteata denied this information. “I have never led any territorial organization of a political party and I have not been a member of the Democratic Party,” Radu Musteata said.
In the context, Prime Minister Vasile Tofan on July 23 had a discussion with Radu Musteata, after which he announced that “he will not make decisions based on unverified accusations or on photographs interpreted in different ways.” Yet, the PM specified that “if clear evidence appears that contradicts the minister’s statements, then he will act accordingly.”
