
Israel's foreign minister: Israel and Moldova to sign several agreements in near future
Chisinau, Aug. 8 /MOLDPRES/- In the near future, Israel and the Republic of Moldova will sign several Agreements on significant cooperation fields. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel Eli Cohen made the statement today in Chisinau, during a joint press briefing with his Moldovan counterpart, Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu.
The Israeli official pointed out that today's visit is a historic one. "It will boost bilateral relations. In the coming period, several Agreements will be signed in various fields. At the same time, we want to launch flights between our countries, which will contribute to the development of tourism and business. Currently, Moldova is going through a complicated period due to the war in Ukraine. Israel has always supported Ukraine's sovereignty and integrity. We greatly appreciate the hospitality and friendliness of Moldova. You are always welcome in Israel," said Eli Cohen.
Popescu said that today's visit represents an important opportunity to consolidate bilateral relations and will allow expanding cooperation in various sectors.
"We share the same democratic values. Today, we discussed projects and initiatives. Negotiations have been launched for the signing of a Free Trade Agreement, which will allow us to increase the volume of trade with the State of Israel. We aim to attract investment. Currently, in our country there are 408 companies with Israeli capital, which have made investments of about 67 million lei. At the same time, we want the launch of Chisinau - Tel Aviv air route. We aim to cooperate in the transport and road infrastructure, medicine, water management. We discussed the security and defense, the conversion of driver's licenses, Moldovan citizens working in Israel, liberalization of roaming tariffs, justice reform in our country", Popescu said.
On August 7-8, Eli Cohen pays a working visit to our country. The official will have a meeting with President Maia Sandu. The first and last visit of an Israeli Foreign Minister to our country took place in 2011.
