Moldova's progress in EU accession process analyzed at new round of Moldovan-Polish inter-ministerial political consultations

The progress made by Moldova in the process of joining the European Union has been considered at a new round of Moldovan-Polish inter-ministerial political consultations.

The consultations were led by State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of  Moldova, Carolina Perebinos and the Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland Marek Prawda.

The delegations of the two ministries reviewed the bilateral cooperation agenda, Moldova’s European integration process, the regional security context, the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, strengthening the resilience of Moldova, as well as cooperation within international organizations.

In the context of Poland holding the rotating Presidency of the EU Council in the first half of 2025, the sides examined the progress made by Moldova in the EU accession process. The Polish official reiterated Poland's firm support and backing for Moldova's European path. Also, Undersecretary of State Marek Prawda expressed his country's willingness to continue providing development assistance.

“The sides exchanged opinions regarding regional security, particularly in the context of Russia's aggression war against Ukraine and its negative impact on Moldova. The discussions also addressed rising hybrid threats, especially propaganda and disinformation campaigns,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed.

Separately, the sides discussed efforts by Moldovan authorities towards a peaceful resolution of the Transnistrian conflict.

As for the bilateral cooperation, the positive dynamics of trade exchanges were also highlighted. The parties reaffirmed their commitment to developing and deepening economic and investment relations, including through organizing the regular meeting of the Moldovan-Polish intergovernmental commission for commercial and economic collaboration this year.
