Moldovan foreign affairs minister says it is badly necessary for citizens to remain united against war
Chisinau, 24 June /MOLDPRES/ - It is presently badly necessary for us to remain united against the war and act together, in order to bring Moldova to the European Union, no matter our political or geopolitical preferences. Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu today made statements to this effect, in the context of the tense situation in Russia.
„We are everybody witnesses of the events taking place in Russia and they remind us, once again, that to preserve peace, stability and democracy in our country, it is important that we continue the way of accession to the European Union,’’ Nicu Popescu said on a social network.
The official stressed that ‘’it is important as never for us to withdraw from the Eurasian area of the destruction and war.’’ ‘’In Moldova, nobody needs war and division, no matter the ethnic group or language spoken, either Romanian or Russian, Gagauz, Ukrainian or Bulgarian, etc. Therefore, we have a single chance to make progress and develop and namely to continue the European way of our country. Only in the EU we can preserve the peace, respect for the cultural diversity and for the human rights and freedoms,’’ Nicu Popescu noted.
The Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) today recommended that Moldova’s citizens avoid the visiting of the Russian regions at the border with Ukraine, in the context of the security threats existing in Russia. At the same time, MAEIE recommends the leaving of these regions, if Moldovan citizens are there.
In case of force majeure circumstances, Moldova’s citizens can call the emergency phone number of Moldova’s Embassy in Russia: +7 929 964 9079.
