Moldovan PM says elections due in next autumn critical, quite important
The autumn 2025 elections are critical and quite important and the Moldovan authorities expect a boosting of hybrid attacks in the context of the ballot, given its major geopolitical stake. Prime Minister Dorin Recean has made statements to this effect in an interview for the website www.caleaeuropeană.ro.
The PM warned that “Moscow is preparing alternatives, in order to be able to influence the politics in Chisinau to stop or reverse the European course of Moldova.”
“Given the experience of last year's electoral exercises – the referendum and presidential elections – we have prepared to face these hybrid attacks. We expect it to be on a much bigger scale, because the stakes are much higher,” the prime minister also said.
Thus, caleaeuropeană.ro cites that the government is preparing for an amplification of hybrid attacks, but relies on the support of Western partners, especially Romania. “It is very important for Romania to be a stable and pro-European democracy, so that we help each other and develop together in the European Union,” Dorin Recean emphasized.
The PM noted that “the strategic choice of Moldova is very clear: to become a member of the great European family.”
“For this, we are working, so that by the end of this decade, specifically by 2028, we can already sign the accession treaty with the European Union. It is a quite ambitious deadline,” concluded the official.
Prime Minister Dorin Recean is paying a working visit to Antalya, where he participates in the fourth edition of the Diplomacy Forum, at an invitation by President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The event, held April 11-13, brings together heads of state and government, ministers and experts who will address current topics on the regional and international agenda.
