Moldovan PM says Moldova aims to sign EU accession treaty by 2028
Moldova aims to sign the EU accession treaty by 2028. Prime Minister Dorin Recean has made statements to this effect in an interview at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum to the website www.caleaeuropeana.ro.
“The strategic choice of Moldova is quite clear: to become a member of the great European family. For this, we are working, so that by the end of this decade, I mean by 2028, we can already sign the treaty on accession to the European Union. This is a very ambitious deadline,” said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
According to the official, Moldova has completed the screening for more than half of the chapters of the EU acquis and negotiation processes are progressing well. Meanwhile, institutions are being intensely reformed, in order to be able to implement the European legislation, cites www.caleaeuropeana.ro.
“Moldova is investing huge effort to build the necessary institutional framework, in order to implement the EU acquis by then,” emphasized the prime minister.
The PM also warned about the pressures Russia might exert in this electoral year, but stayed optimistic about public support. “Moldovans are convinced that the European integration is the sure and only path for the development of Moldova. I have strong confidence that we will continue,” prime minister added.
Prime Minister Dorin Recean pays a working visit to Antalya, where he is participating in the fourth edition of the Diplomacy Forum, at an invitation by President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The event, held on April 11-13, brings together heads of states and governments, ministers and experts, who will address current topics on regional and international agendas.
